• MEET OUR CHIEF DROP IT YOUTH AMBASSADOR, JULIA GRIFFERTY.

A couple of years ago, Julia pioneered the idea of Drop It Youth in her school in Abu Dhabi, under the name of “Boot the bottle”. She rallied everyone in her community around her sustainable ideas and campaigned so well that her whole school ecosystem switched to filtered tap water, including some of its suppliers like cafeteria and cleaning staff.
Throughout this academic year, Julia will be encouraging and providing our Drop It Youth ambassadors with inspiration and ideas on how to run their campaign and encourage more people to pledge for a greener future.

  • “WE STEADFASTLY SUPPORT OUR YOUTH, AND WILL EMPOWER THEM TO ACHIEVE THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY IN ALL FIELDS.”

HH SHEIKH MOHAMMED BIN RASHID AL MAKTOUM

Drop It Youth is a Goumbook initiative and comes from the success of Drop It, a campaign launched in the UAE in May 2016 to get individual people and the local business community to re-think their consumption of single-use plastic by switching to filtered tap water. By using filtered tap water we can make an immediate positive environmental impact by reducing plastic waste and carbon footprint.

With Drop It Youth, Goumbook aims to empower young individuals from 11 to 22 years old to campaign against single-use plastic pollution in their class, year group, school or larger community. Becoming a Drop It Youth ambassador allows environmentally conscious teenagers to inspire sustainable living practices in their schools, with the unique support and guidance of professional environmentalists.
Goumbook is the organisation behind Drop It and Drop It Youth – a social enterprise aimed at raising awareness on sustainability and green living. Born in the UAE in 2010, Goumbook’s aim is to create a global community made up of environmental experts, organisations, businesses, consumers and young activists across borders and cultures, all focused on environmental responsibility.
